Safety Tips
Cornvio connects people across Cornwall to share and rehome items. Follow these tips to keep every exchange safe and comfortable for everyone.
Choose safe, well-lit locations
Arrange collections in public, well-lit locations whenever possible — a car park, high street, or community space is ideal.
Inspect items before accepting them
Check any item carefully before agreeing to take it. If it looks different from the listing, you're entitled to decline.
Meet during daytime hours
Where practical, arrange collections during daylight hours. If you must meet in the evening, choose a busy location.
Keep communication on the platform
Use the Cornvio messaging system until collection details are agreed. This keeps a record and protects both parties.
Protect your personal information
Do not share unnecessary personal information such as your full home address, bank details, or national insurance number. Your exact collection address should only be shared once you're confident in the arrangement.
Bring a friend for high-value items
When collecting high-value items, or meeting someone for the first time, consider bringing a friend or family member with you.
Report anything suspicious
If a listing, user, or message seems suspicious or makes you uncomfortable, use the report button on the site or email hello@cornvio.co.uk. Our moderation team reviews all reports.
Trust your instincts
If something feels wrong at any point — before, during, or after an arrangement — trust that instinct. Cancel the arrangement and report it if necessary. Your safety is more important than any item.
